Alternative School Song
Local History Transport Walks Holcombe Society Places to Visit News BRIF
This is an "alternative" School song, usually sung at music events,  pantos etc. That you reach by puffing up the rake.  You feel fit to drop, When you reach the top  Of the climb you thought you’d never make.  Holcombe Village,  That is lit by a car park light, On the phone box form,  When it’s nice and warm That’s the place to meet your friends at night.  We were all brought up at this school, And we live by the Parkinson rule  So when we say: “Yip i – o – i –o – i – ay” We’re only saying “You’re doing fine Holcombe Village”  Holcombe Village, OK !”
Note: The Parkinson referred to is Jane Anne Parkinson, a  teacher at Holcombe Primary School from 1925 who retired as  headmistress in 1965. (Song is sung to the tune of Oklahoma)
